Getting Started with the CR1000
Welcome to your new CR1000 digital time clock and date stamp!
This guide will walk you through unboxing, opening and closing the CR1000, and setting the print configurations. By the end, you will have your CR1000 set up and ready to track time.

Opening and Closing the Cover
Open
- Insert the key into the lock on the cover of the device.
- Turn the key clockwise to unlock.
- Lift upward to remove the cover.
Close
- Replace the cover.
- Insert the key into the lock on the cover of the device.
- Turn the key counterclockwise to lock the device.
Remove Packing Materials
When you open the device for the first time, remove the protective pad and cardboard insert.
Locate the Ink Ribbon
The ribbon may have dislodged during shipping. To avoid damage to the printer, press the ribbon cartridge firmly into position after removing the protective pad.
Plug in the AC Adapter
Once the protective pad and cardboard insert have been removed, plug the AC adapter (power cord) into the back of the device. See the safety notes in the Features and Specifications article before plugging in your device.
Set Up the CR1000 Time Clock
While you can set the date and time and start printing, the CR1000 offers a variety of features that allow for more customized setup. This section covers the most common options and links to detailed articles for advanced settings.
Notes:
- If you see E-90, double-check your programmed settings - at least one setting was entered incorrectly.
- During this process, press SET twice after a setting to return to operation mode and test punch, or press SET once to save, then press SELECT to move forward to the next setting without exiting operation mode.

Programming Basics
To make changes to the time clock settings, you must open the device. Setting options are listed directly on the device interface.

Buttons
Locate the three buttons inside the device, each shaped like a white rectangle and labeled SELECT, CHANGE or SET. These are used to program the device.
| Control | Function |
| SELECT | Press SELECT to choose the desired program setting mode. The selected program mode is indicated by ▲ on the display. |
| CHANGE | Press CHANGE to cycle through the options. Press and hold to cycle through quickly. |
| SET | Press SET to save the option. After an option has been saved, continue pressing SET until the device returns to normal operation mode. |
Quick Steps:
- To enter program mode, press SELECT.
- The display will show a ▲ symbol under the “TIME” mark.
- Continue pressing SELECT until you reach the desired number or option.
- When a number flashes, it is ready to be changed.
- Use CHANGE to cycle through available options.
- Press SET to save the selected value.
- To exit program mode at any time, press SET repeatedly until the device returns to the normal operation mode.
Important:
- Printing is always disabled while settings are being changed.
- Once the final SET has been completed in any given operation, printing is re-enabled.
- After making changes, replace and lock the cover and lock it.
Set the Date and Time
Your CR1000 comes pre-set before shipping, but you may need to adjust the date or time for accuracy. Watch this video or expand the dropdown below for step-by-step instructions with images.

Date
- Press SELECT until the ▲ icon is under the “DATE” mark. The year will flash.

- Press CHANGE until the year is correct.
- Press SET to confirm. The flashing will change from “Year” to “Month”.

- Press CHANGE until the month is correct.
- Press SET to confirm. The flashing will change from “Month” to “Date”.

- Press CHANGE until the day is correct.
- Press SET to confirm.
Time
- Press SELECT until the ▲ icon is under the “TIME” mark. The “Hour” will flash.

- Press CHANGE until the hour is correct.
- Press SET to confirm. The flashing will change from “Hour” to “Minute”.

- Press CHANGE until the minute is correct.
- Press SET to confirm. The “Second” will start to run from “00”.
Set the Printed Order
Printed order determines how your time stamp appears; what details are included, how they’re displayed, and in what sequence. If you choose an option from 12 - 18, these include a comment and require extra steps. If you plan to use comments, jump to the next section before continuing.

- Press SELECT until the ▲ icon is under the “PRINT ORDER” mark. The flashing number indicates “Print Order Options”.
- Press CHANGE until your reach the desired option. Refer to the Print Order Options table above.
- Press SET to confirm.
Set Comments
Comments let you add preset or custom phrases, like SENT, RCVD (received), or APR'D (approved), alongside the date and time. This feature is great for document tracking or adding context to your stamps.

Set Print Activation
Print activation controls how the CR1000 triggers a stamp. You can keep the default automatic mode for quick, hands-free stamping, switch to manual for precise placement, or use semi-automatic for a mix of both. Choose the method that best fits your workflow.

Set Daylight Saving Time
If your location observes Daylight Saving Time (DST), the CR1000 can adjust automatically so you don’t have to reset the clock twice a year. If DST doesn’t apply to you, you can disable it. Expand the appropriate dropdown below for instructions.
If your location does not observe DST, click here to view the steps to disable DST.
Disable DST Settings
- Press SELECT until the arrow ▼ is above the “DST” mark.
- Press CHANGE until the option is “2” (OFF).
- Press SET.
If your location observes DST, click here to view the steps to enable DST.
Enable DST Settings
- Press SELECT until the arrow ▼ is above the “DST” mark.
- Press CHANGE until the option is “3” (Manual).
- Press SET.

Set the Start Date
- The arrow ▼ should be above above “DST START” mark. The flashing digit indicates “Year”.
- Press CHANGE to set the year.
- Press SET to confirm.
- Press CHANGE to set the month to “3” (March).
- Press SET to confirm.
- Press CHANGE to set the day (refer to the DST date table).
- Press SET to confirm.
- The “Starting Date” of the display will change from flashing to steady and the arrow ▲ mark will be under “SU”.
Set the End Date
- Press SELECT until the ▼ is above the “DST END” mark. The flashing digit indicates “Year”.
- Press CHANGE to set the year.
- Press SET to confirm.
- Press CHANGE to set the month to “11” (November).
- Press SET to confirm.
- Press CHANGE to set the day (refer to the DST date table).
- Press SET to confirm.
- The “Ending Date” of the display will change from flashing to steady and the arrow ▲ mark will be under “SU”.
If you see E-41 DST setting mistake, doublecheck your settings.
Set the Print Alignment
The print alignment determines how far from the edge the stamp appears on your card or document. Insert a card for a sample print, then use the adjustment button located on the right outside bottom of the device to fine-tune placement. The maximum distance from the edge of the form to print is approximately 1-3/16” (30 mm).

Set a Password
Password protection helps control who can change your CR1000 settings.

Set Additional Features

Register the Device
Once your CR1000 is set up, register it to activate your 2-year warranty. You’ll need your dealer ID and device ID (found on your documentation and the device sticker). If you cannot find your dealer ID, check the list below for common IDs or contact us for help.

Mount the Time Clock (Optional)
After confirming your settings and print alignment, you can mount the CR1000 for convenient access.
