Error Codes on Your FN1000 Time Clock

This article will describe the troubleshooting steps to resolve error codes on the FN1000 time clock.

ER 01: Wrong side of time card inserted

Turn the card over and reinsert it. Most pay periods will only make use of the front side (with lines 1-15) of the timecard. If you intend to use both sides of the timecard, the clock must be configured to a monthly pay period or using the no pay period option.

ER 21: Battery needs to be charged

Make sure the timeclock is plugged into a functional outlet and allow the internal battery to fully charge. If the battery is no longer able to hold a charge it will fail to power the clock when the power supply is unplugged. We do not sell replacement batteries and the current model no longer offers this feature.

ER 91: Print Head Motor Issue

Perform a factory reset following the steps below. Be aware, if you are using a calculating timeclock model, the reset will delete any punches currently stored in the memory. If the issue persists, make sure you have completed the warranty registration process, have your receipt or sales order number ready for proof of purchase, and contact support. Please note the device is covered for 2 years from the date of purchase (on the receipt or sales order). After 2 years, the device is no longer eligible for replacement.

1. Move the Set switch (pictured below) to the “0” position (to the right).

2. Then press the +, Clear, and Mode keys (pictured below) simultaneously until you hear three beeps.

3. Finally, move the Set switch (pictured below) back to the “–” position (to the left).
