Programming Overview

Recommended Workflow

Although the MK3000 supports on‑device editing, it is significantly faster to edit information using Excel. The resources on a computer and in Excel provide a robust, familiar environment for adding and editing information.

We recommend editing most data, such as users and shifts on a computer whenever possible. It is much easier to enter employee and shift settings on a PC and upload them to the clock, since T9 (Text on 9 keys) keyboard entry can be time consuming.

Device Menu Access

To access the MK3000 Menu:

  • Press the [MENU] button on the face of the time clock.
  • If the device has a designated Manager‑level user, a manager must authenticate to enter the menu. Authentication can be completed using a face scan, password, badge, or fingerprint.

USB Import/Export Quick Steps

  1. Insert the provided USB drive into the time clock.
  2. Download the necessary files:
    • From the Shift menu: download Shift Setup
    • From the User Mgt menu: download User Setup
  3. Remove the USB from the time clock and insert it into a computer.
  4. Edit the files in Excel - do not adjust the name or file type.
  5. Insert the USB back into the time clock and upload the updated files.

See Getting Started with the MK3000 for more information and detailed steps.
