Add a New User to the MK1000

Adding a new user to the MK1000 involves downloading the user setup file from the clock, updating it in Excel, and uploading it back. You can also register fingerprints or RFID cards for secure access. Follow these steps to complete the process:

  1. Download the User Setup File from the Time Clock
  2. Open the Setup File in Excel
  3. Add the Employee to the Setup File
  4. Upload the Setup File Back to the Time Clock
  5. (Optional) Register Employee Finger Templates or RFID Cards

Notes:

  • Uploading the User file from the PC will overwrite any existing users on the clock that have corresponding User ID.
  • Uploading the User file from the PC will not overwrite any existing users that are not in the user file but on the clock, ie, the user file doesn't have User# 10 but User# 10 was manually entered on the clock.

Step 1: Download the User Setup File from the Time Clock

  1. Plug the USB stick into the left side of the clock.
  2. Press [Menu].
  3. Select User Mgt and press [OK].
  4. Scroll down to select Download User and press [OK].
  5. Press [ESC] repeatedly to exit or simply allow the menus to time out.
  6. Remove the USB stick from the clock.

Step 2: Open the Setup File in Excel

  1. Plug the USB stick into your computer.
  2. Open Excel.
  3. In Excel, click File > Open.
  4. Select Browse.
  5. Select the USB Drive (often Drive D: but it may be assigned to another drive).
  6. Choose User_Setup_01.XML and click Open.

Step 3: Add the Employee to the Setup File

Enter the new employee details in a new row of the setup file. Complete all required fields and any optional fields, then save the file. Do not rename the file.

Required Fields:

  • ID Number (must be unique)
  • Set 0 for User
  • Name (16 Characters max. including blank spaces)
  • Shift

Optional Fields:

  • Department (10 Characters max. including blank spaces)
  • Password
  • RFID Card

Note: Leave the FP (fingerprint) column blank. Fingerprints are added at the time clock.

Step 4: Upload the Setup File Back to the Time Clock

  1. Eject and remove the USB stick from the PC.
  2. Plug the USB stick into the side of the clock.
  3. Press [Menu].
  4. Select User Mgt and press [OK].
  5. Select Upload User and press [OK].
  6. Press [ESC] repeatedly to exit the menus or simply allow the menus to time out.
  7. Remove the USB stick from the clock.

Step 5 (Optional): Register Employee Finger Templates or RFID Cards

  1. Press [Menu].
  2. Select User Mgt and press [OK].
  3. Select UserView and press [OK].
  4. Select the new employee from the list and press [OK].
